Fatigue & Low Energy

Feeling exhausted all the time? Your blood can explain why.

Persistent tiredness that sleep doesn’t fix is one of the most common reasons people seek a blood test — and one of the most reliably diagnosable. Iron deficiency, low vitamin D, thyroid dysfunction and B12 deficiency are all measurable, treatable causes that a standard GP test often misses. A private panel covers the full picture.

Common causes we test for:

  • Iron or ferritin deficiency (the most common cause in women)
  • Vitamin D deficiency
  • Vitamin B12 or folate deficiency
  • Thyroid underactivity (hypothyroidism)
  • Cortisol dysregulation
  • Anaemia

Low Mood & Anxiety

Mood and anxiety issues often have a biological root cause.

Before attributing low mood or anxiety purely to stress or lifestyle, it’s worth ruling out a physical cause. Thyroid imbalance, vitamin D deficiency, low B12, cortisol dysfunction and hormonal changes can all produce symptoms that are clinically identical to depression or anxiety — and are directly measurable in your blood.

Common causes we test for:

  • Thyroid dysfunction (TSH, T3, T4)
  • Vitamin D deficiency
  • Vitamin B12 or folate deficiency
  • Cortisol imbalance (HPA axis)
  • Oestrogen or progesterone fluctuation
  • Iron deficiency affecting neurotransmitter production

Hormones & TRT

Low drive, low energy — could be your hormones.

Testosterone, SHBG, oestradiol and other hormones play a critical role in your energy, libido, mood and body composition. A hormone panel tells you exactly where your levels stand — and what you can do about it. Many men find their symptoms have a clear, correctable biological cause that goes untested for years.

Common causes we test for:

  • Low total or free testosterone
  • Elevated SHBG (sex hormone-binding globulin)
  • Oestradiol imbalance
  • Elevated prolactin
  • Thyroid dysfunction
  • Vitamin D deficiency

Weight & Metabolism

Struggling with your weight? It might not be willpower.

Thyroid dysfunction, insulin resistance, hormonal imbalances and nutritional deficiencies can all cause stubborn weight gain and a sluggish metabolism — regardless of how well you eat or exercise. A targeted blood panel identifies exactly what’s holding you back so you can address it with precision.

Common causes we test for:

  • Thyroid dysfunction (the most common metabolic cause)
  • Insulin resistance or pre-diabetes
  • Elevated cortisol (chronic stress)
  • Sex hormone imbalance
  • Iron deficiency anaemia
  • Chronic low-grade inflammation

Female Health

Your hormones affect everything — from energy to mood to skin.

Oestrogen, progesterone, LH, FSH and prolactin shift throughout your cycle and across life stages. A female hormone panel gives you the full picture — whether you’re tracking your cycle, investigating symptoms, planning a pregnancy or navigating perimenopause. Understanding your hormones is the foundation of understanding your health.

Common causes we test for:

  • Oestrogen or progesterone imbalance
  • Elevated FSH (perimenopause or menopause)
  • PCOS-related hormonal markers
  • Thyroid dysfunction
  • Elevated prolactin
  • Iron or ferritin deficiency

Beauty & Skin

Skin, hair and nails are mirrors of what’s happening inside.

Dull skin, hair shedding and brittle nails are rarely cosmetic problems. Ferritin, vitamin D, thyroid function and hormonal balance all directly affect how you look. The good news: once you know what’s deficient or imbalanced, it’s usually straightforward to fix — and the results show quickly.

Common causes we test for:

  • Iron or ferritin deficiency (the leading cause of hair loss)
  • Vitamin D deficiency
  • Thyroid imbalance affecting hair and skin
  • Zinc and selenium deficiency
  • Hormonal imbalance (androgens, oestrogen)
  • Chronic inflammation

Nutrition & Diet

Eating well isn’t enough if your body isn’t absorbing.

Plant-based diets and restricted eating can quietly deplete B12, iron, vitamin D, zinc and other essential nutrients — often before any symptoms appear. A nutritional panel tells you exactly what your body is missing so you can address deficiencies before they affect your health, energy and immunity.

Common causes we test for:

  • Vitamin B12 deficiency (especially common in vegans)
  • Iron or ferritin deficiency
  • Vitamin D deficiency
  • Zinc deficiency
  • Iodine deficiency
  • Folate deficiency

Fitness & Performance

Train harder. Recover smarter. Know your numbers.

If you train regularly but aren’t seeing the results you expect — or you’re struggling to recover between sessions — your blood markers may tell you why. From testosterone and cortisol to iron and inflammation, serious training demands data. Most performance plateaus have a measurable biological cause.

Common causes we test for:

  • Iron deficiency or anaemia affecting endurance
  • Low testosterone reducing muscle growth
  • Elevated cortisol from overtraining
  • Vitamin D deficiency
  • Overtraining markers (CRP, creatine kinase)
  • Nutritional gaps undermining recovery

Common Questions

Blood testing — answered.

Start with your symptoms. If you’re tired and run down, an Essential Health Check or Thyroid test is a logical first step. If you have specific concerns — hormones, fertility, athletic performance, beauty — there’s a targeted panel for each. Our AI search above can recommend tests based on what you describe in your own words.
No — you can order any of our tests directly online without a GP referral. Results are reviewed by our clinical team and returned to you directly. If your results indicate something that requires further investigation, we’ll advise you on next steps.
Most results are returned within 24–48 hours of your sample being received at the laboratory. Time-sensitive tests such as HbA1c and individual biomarkers are often faster. You’ll receive an email notification when your results are ready, along with a personalised AI-generated report.
Some tests — particularly cholesterol, blood glucose (HbA1c) and certain hormonal panels — produce more accurate results when taken fasted (no food for 8–12 hours, water is fine). Your test kit instructions will confirm whether fasting is required. When in doubt, fasting is never harmful.
Blood tests can identify markers associated with elevated cardiovascular risk — including cholesterol, CRP, HbA1c and homocysteine — giving you the opportunity to make changes before a problem develops. They are not diagnostic tools for cancer, but certain markers (such as PSA for prostate health) are included in relevant panels.
Every result outside the reference range is reviewed by our clinical team before being released. Your report will clearly highlight any abnormal results, explain what they might mean, and recommend appropriate next steps — whether that’s a dietary change, a follow-up test, or a conversation with your GP.
Our tests are processed by the same UKAS-accredited laboratories used by the NHS. The results are directly comparable. The difference is that our panels are broader, reported faster, and come with a personalised AI health report — rather than a brief letter saying your results are ‘normal’.
